The proposed $5.7 million project will replace the existing Route 624 (Beazley Road) bridge over Blue Run with a new single-span, prestressed concrete deck bridge with an asphalt riding surface. The new bridge will provide two travel lanes, shoulders that meet current road-design standards and concrete railings along both sides.

The existing bridge was built in 1932 and is located just west of Route 623 (Swift Run Road). It carries approximately 260 vehicles per day and is currently posted with a 28-ton weight restriction for single trucks and a 40-ton restriction for semi-trailer trucks. The replacement will remove those restrictions and allow all legal-weight vehicles to use the bridge.

During construction, Beazley Road will be closed to through traffic. An approximately 3.8-mile detour will be in place, and access to all properties will be maintained.

The project is funded through Virginia’s State of Good Repair program.

The project is expected to be advertised for construction in fall 2028, with work beginning in spring 2029. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2030.
