Route 704 Bridge Over I-81 in Rockingham County to Close for Repairs
STAUNTON – The Route 704 (Cecil Wampler Road) bridge over Interstate 81 in Rockingham County is scheduled to be closed for up to a week beginning Thursday night, Aug. 20, as crews make repairs related to a vehicle strike that occurred last fall.
During the closure, motorists will detour as follows:
- Eastbound traffic will go north on Route 11 (Valley Pike/Main Street), east on Route 679 (Pleasant Valley Road) and then south on Early Road.
- Westbound traffic will go north on Route 988 (Early Road), west on Route 679 (Pleasant Valley Road) and then south on Route 11 (Main Street/Valley Pike).
Motorists also should expect overnight single-lane closures on I-81 near mile marker 241.5 during the same time period.
